SRINAGAR: The Income Tax Department on Wednesday conducted raids at multiple locations in Srinagar, including the residence and business premises of a local businessman.
Officials said the searches targeted the home of a prominent hotelier and entrepreneur in Shalimar, as well as his showroom in Brein Nishat. Teams of income tax officials, assisted by police, examined documents and records related to financial transactions. The operations, which began early in the morning, were still ongoing at the time of reporting.
Sources indicated that the raids are part of a broader investigation into alleged financial irregularities. “Relevant records and documents are being scrutinised. More information will be shared once the operation concludes,” a source said.
In addition, the Income Tax Department carried out a raid at a hotel in Humhama, Budgam district, in central Kashmir.
