A live mortar shell was recovered from a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Wednesday and was later defused by a bomb disposal squad, officials said.
The shell was spotted by locals in an open field at Naka Panjgarian, who immediately alerted the police and army personnel stationed in the area, they added.
According to officials, the explosive was safely neutralized by experts and is believed to have landed in the village during cross-border shelling in Operation Sindoor in May.
