New Delhi: Tejaswani Singh Wins Silver as India Tops ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 Medal Table

India concluded the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 in New Delhi on a high note, finishing at the top of the medal tally, highlighted by a silver medal from shooter Tejaswani Singh.

At the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, Tejaswani, who had previously claimed gold at the Junior ISSF World Cup in Suhl, narrowly missed out on gold in the 25m pistol women junior final, finishing behind Aleksandra Tikhonova. Tikhonova maintained composure throughout the match, scoring 33 to clinch the top spot, while Tejaswani, after a dominant qualification round of 580-17x, secured silver with 30 points. Italy’s Alessandra Fait completed the podium with 28. Fellow Indian shooters Naamya Kapoor and Riya Shirish Thatte finished fourth and fifth, scoring 21 and 16 respectively.

In the trap mixed team junior final, the competition produced an intense all-Czech showdown. Tereza Zaviskova and Tomas Nantl edged out compatriots Lea Kucerova and Kamil Bednar 39-38 to claim gold. Meanwhile, Spain’s European junior champions Irene Del Rey Ruiz and Isaac Hernandez defeated Italy’s Sofia Gori and Luca Gerri 7-6 in a shoot-off for bronze, following a 40-40 tie in regulation.

On the men’s side, in the non-Olympic 25m pistol junior event, India’s junior world champion Mukesh Nellavalli combined his precision stage score of 289-9x with a stellar 296-14x in rapid fire, finishing at 585-23x to take gold. Aleksandr Kovalev, a previous 25m rapid fire pistol champion in the tournament, won silver with 577-17x, while India’s Sahil Choudhary added bronze with 573-21x.

Overall, India dominated the competition with a total of 26 medals—eight gold, 10 silver, and eight bronze—including six gold, eight silver, and five bronze in Olympic shooting events.

The 11th edition of the ISSF Junior World Cup, the first ever held in India, saw 208 shooters from 19 federations compete across 15 Olympic and three non-Olympic medal events.
