Washington: US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday (local time) that he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in four weeks, with the soybean trade set to be a key topic of discussion.

Trump highlighted the challenges faced by American farmers, noting that China has been withholding soybean purchases for “negotiating reasons.” He pledged his support, saying he would use a portion of the revenue from tariffs to assist farmers.

In a Truth Social post, Trump stated, “The soybean farmers of our country are being hurt because China, for ‘negotiating’ reasons only, is not buying. We’ve made so much money on tariffs that we are going to take a small portion of that money and help our farmers. I will never let our farmers down! Sleepy Joe Biden didn’t enforce our agreement with China, where they were supposed to purchase billions of dollars of our farm products, especially soybeans. It’s all going to work out very well. I love our patriots, and every farmer is exactly that! I’ll be meeting with President Xi in four weeks, and soybeans will be a major topic. MAKE SOYBEANS, AND OTHER ROW CROPS, GREAT AGAIN!”

This announcement follows Trump’s September 20 statement that Chinese President Xi had approved a deal allowing TikTok to continue operating in the United States.

Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, Trump said, “I had a good call with President Xi. He approved the TikTok deal. We look forward to getting it finalized. We have to get it signed; it could be a formality. The TikTok deal is on its way, and investors are preparing.”

Trump emphasized that the US will maintain “tight control” over the app, calling the arrangement “a very good deal” for Washington.

“We are going to have very tight control. It’s an amazing platform… I am a little biased because I did very well with it—it gave me unprecedented numbers. Young people love it, and their parents want it too. We worked out a deal with China that’s very good for us, and I hope it’s good for them as well. These are American investors—very prominent financially—who will have control. I want to thank President Xi; he was a gentleman, and we have a good relationship,” Trump added.
