Kupwara: In a crackdown against the terrorist network, Handwara Police on Thursday attached the property of a suspected terrorist handler in Palpora village, Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir.
During the investigation linked to a case registered at Police Station Kralgund, authorities established that JKNOP operative Nazir Ahmad Ganai, operating from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, was actively involved in directing and facilitating terrorist activities in Handwara, police said.
“Accordingly, in line with legal provisions, proceedings were initiated to attach his property. After obtaining necessary sanctions from the competent authority, land belonging to Nazir Ahmad Ganai in Palpora village was attached in the presence of police and revenue officials,” the police said in a statement.
This step underscores Handwara Police’s commitment to taking strict action against terrorist handlers and anti-national elements. Such measures aim to dismantle support networks of terrorist outfits, deter unlawful activities, and strengthen peace and security in the district, the statement added.
Police urged community members to cooperate in maintaining peace and refrain from providing any assistance to entities threatening national security, warning that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such activities.
In a related operation, Sopore Police conducted searches at the residences of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI)-linked individuals in Zaloora, Sopore, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the separatist-terror network.
Searches were carried out at the homes of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat, son of Abdul Rahim Bhat, and Tanveer Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Jabbar Dar, both residents of Zaloora. These operations were linked to FIRs registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and were conducted following valid court-issued search warrants.
During the raids, incriminating material associated with the proscribed organisation was recovered and seized for further investigation. All actions were carried out in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses to ensure full legal compliance and transparency.
Police emphasized that these operations are part of their ongoing efforts to uncover and dismantle networks involved in separatist and terror-related activities. Such initiatives are critical for preventing radicalization, maintaining public order, and safeguarding national sovereignty.
