New Delhi: India on Friday condemned Pakistan’s “horrific” human rights violations against peaceful protesters in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), saying the country must be held accountable.

Widespread protests have erupted across several areas of PoJK, with residents demanding basic rights, justice, and an end to what they described as systemic oppression.

“We have received reports of protests across multiple regions of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including brutal actions by Pakistani forces against innocent civilians,” said External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

He added, “These incidents are a direct result of Pakistan’s oppressive policies and its systematic exploitation of resources in territories under its illegal and forcible occupation.”

Responding to a question at his weekly media briefing, Jaiswal emphasized, “Pakistan must be held accountable for its horrific human rights violations.”
