New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is witnessing one of its strongest festive season performances in the past decade, with bookings hitting 2.5 lakh and exports surging by 50%, according to Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales. He described this year’s demand as “unprecedented.”

“During the first eight days of Navratri, the company delivered an impressive 1,65,000 vehicles and expects to reach a record 2,00,000 deliveries by Dussehra, surpassing the last ten years’ records. The response from customers has been excellent, with bookings currently at 2.5 lakh,” Banerjee said.

He highlighted that last year’s Navratri deliveries were around 1 lakh vehicles, showing that sales have nearly doubled this year. He attributed this growth to the recent GST reforms. “Exports have also grown by 50%, with 42,000 vehicles shipped abroad. Our production team is working on Sundays and holidays to meet the high demand. We anticipate a strong October with 2.5 lakh pending bookings, focusing on delivering vehicles to customers as quickly as possible,” Banerjee added.

Banerjee explained that following the GST Council’s rate cut in August, many buyers who had postponed purchases began booking cars, fueling the surge in October.

Earlier in September, he noted that the company and its partners were operating round the clock to handle the festive rush. “Our dealer partners are working day and night to deliver cars, while our finance partners are fast-tracking loans and delivery orders. The GST 2.0 reforms have created a positive momentum,” he told reporters here.

He also emphasized the growth in daily bookings, which have risen from around 10,000 to 18,000 per day. “Even in small cars, we are seeing strong traction. Interestingly, in over 100 cities, the response has been even better, with bookings almost doubling,” he said.

Banerjee added that small car sales have grown by 100%, while metropolitan cities have seen growth of around 35-40%.
