Srinagar Police Attach Property Linked to Designated Terrorist

Srinagar: In a major move against terror networks, Srinagar Police have attached a three-storey residential house on 15 marlas of land at Rose Avenue, HMT. The property belongs to the father of designated terrorist Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, also known as Sajad Gul, officials said.

A police spokesperson stated, “The property, valued at around ₹2 crore, is recorded in the name of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, father of Sajad Ahmad Sheikh @ Sajad Gul, according to revenue records and verification from Tehsildar Central, Shalteng, Srinagar.”

The attachment was executed in connection with FIR No. 235/2022 under Sections 13, 38, 20 of the UAPA and Sections 2/3 of the EIMCO Act, registered at Police Station Parimpora. Proceedings were carried out under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which allows authorities to seize properties used or intended for terrorist activities. The action was conducted in the presence of the concerned Executive Magistrate.

Though registered in the father’s name, investigations revealed that Sajad Gul is an active stakeholder, involved in facilitating terrorism, spreading anti-national propaganda, and inciting disaffection against the government through online platforms.

The spokesperson emphasized that this move is part of Srinagar Police’s ongoing strategy to disrupt the financial, logistical, and operational networks of terrorism, including cross-border sponsors and sympathizers. “This action sends a clear message: those aiding terrorism will face strict legal consequences, including the forfeiture of illegally acquired assets,” he said.

Srinagar Police reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the rule of law and safeguard peace and public order.
