Jammu : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu on Friday conducted a raid at the residence of a retired government official in Muthi, Jammu, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities.
Officials said the operation was led by DySP Rakesh Sharma, along with a team of ACB officers, at the home of Sumair Singh, son of Waryam Singh. The house is located in Chandan Vihar, Muthi, while the family originally hails from Village Pallanwala.
Sources noted that the retired official had served as Head Draftsman in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department. The search followed credible inputs suggesting the possible possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Authorities confirmed that the search is being conducted under proper legal authorization and supervision. “The raid is part of an ongoing probe. Relevant documents and property records are being examined,” an official familiar with the operation said.
During the raid, ACB personnel scrutinized property papers, bank records, and other pertinent documents. Sources said the Bureau is verifying details of both movable and immovable assets acquired during Singh’s tenure and post-retirement.
Officials added that the proceedings aim to determine whether there was any misuse of official position or accumulation of wealth beyond lawful means during his service in the R&B Department.
