Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta on saturday chaired a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation in Leh district following the relaxation of restrictions imposed under Section 163 of the BNSS.
The meeting, held at Raj Niwas, was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Director General of Police Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, District Magistrate Leh, SSP Leh, and senior officers from various security agencies.
Officials briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the overall security scenario, noting that the situation across the Union Territory remained peaceful and stable. They informed that peace and normalcy have been effectively restored with the active cooperation of local residents.
Appreciating the restraint and sense of responsibility shown by the citizens during the relaxation period, Gupta said their contribution was vital in maintaining stability in the region.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ rights and ensuring their aspirations for peace and development are protected.
Emphasising the need for continued vigilance, the Lieutenant Governor directed officials and security agencies to remain alert, responsive, and people-friendly in their approach.
Meanwhile, the District Magistrate of Leh has further eased restrictions, extending business operation hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting today.
