Shantamanu launches Mega Science Event in Jammu

JAMMU: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Higher Education Department, Shantamanu, inaugurated the 52nd Rajya Stariya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani (RSBVP) 2024-25 and the Divisional Level National Science Seminar (NSS) 2025, held jointly as a Mega Science Event at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, today.

Hosted by the State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) J&K, Divisional Office Jammu, the event marked the divisional culmination of these nationally acclaimed science initiatives. Distinguished attendees included Joint Directors of DSEJ, SCERT, and Central, along with NCERT experts Prof. Ramavatar Meena and Prof. T.P. Sharma, National RSBVP Coordinator, students, and officials.

The program saw enthusiastic participation from 70 young innovators, 20 seminar toppers, and teachers from ten districts of Jammu Division. Addressing the gathering, ACS Shantamanu encouraged students to nurture curiosity, strengthen scientific foundations, and confidently step forward as future innovators and leaders.

In her opening remarks, Joint Director SCERT, Prof. Sindhu Kapoor, lauded the dedication of students and educators, reaffirming SCERT Jammu’s commitment to fostering scientific creativity, innovation, and societal development.

Under the 52nd RSBVP, sponsored by NCERT, 47 innovative models were showcased under the theme “Science and Technology for Society”, tackling issues such as natural farming, waste management, and renewable energy. An expert jury evaluated the exhibits, and 21 models (three per sub-theme) were shortlisted to represent Jammu Division at the 52nd Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani 2025.

The Science Seminar featured 10 district-level winners presenting on the theme “Quantum Age Begins: Potential and Challenges”, combining traditional knowledge with modern sustainability practices. Their presentations were further enriched by insights from Dr. Meenakshi Gupta, Professor of Agronomy, SKUAST-Jammu.

Awards:

  • 1st place: Thakur Anirudh Singh, The Nature Lap International HS, Pouni (Reasi)
  • 2nd place: Banshika Devi, Vikas Memorial High School, Laiter (Reasi)
  • 3rd place: Sachi Sharma, Spring Dale English School, Changran

Thakur Anirudh Singh will represent Jammu & Kashmir at the UT-level, with a chance to showcase his talent at the National Science Seminar 2025 in Bangalore.

In her concluding remarks, Deputy Secretary, School Education Department, appreciated the efforts of students and SCERT Jammu and presented medals and certificates to the achievers in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
