Rana Lays Foundation Stone for Mendhari Nallah Approach Roads, Reviews Developmental Initiatives in Mendhar

MENDHAR: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today laid the foundation stone for the construction of approach roads to the downstream bridge over Mendhari Nallah.

The project, sanctioned at a cost of ₹339.20 lakh, will be executed by the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department. During the ceremony, Rana directed the Executive Engineer of R&B to ensure timely completion while maintaining high-quality standards and adherence to technical specifications, emphasizing the need for durable infrastructure to benefit the public and foster regional development.

Highlighting the Omar Abdullah Government’s commitment to improving road connectivity in remote and underserved areas, Rana noted that enhanced infrastructure plays a vital role in socio-economic growth and accessibility in rural regions.

Later, the Minister chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the developmental scenario of Mendhar Constituency. Stressing the importance of horticulture and agriculture in strengthening the rural economy, he called for increased awareness among farmers and the public about government schemes and welfare initiatives. Rana instructed the concerned departments to organize awareness camps, workshops, and field demonstrations at the village level to ensure grassroots outreach.

The meeting also covered ongoing and proposed works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and the Public Works Department (PWD). The Minister directed officials to expedite tendering, closely monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of all infrastructure projects. He further reviewed road restoration efforts following recent landslides and instructed the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for new road projects under various schemes.

In the education sector, Rana emphasized the swift implementation of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, teaching quality, and learning outcomes. He highlighted the importance of leveraging existing human resources and integrating digital learning tools to enhance education, particularly in rural schools.

Regarding healthcare, the Minister stressed the need to improve access and service delivery in underserved areas. He directed health officials to undertake outreach programs to raise community awareness and ensure equitable access to primary healthcare services.

Rana underlined the importance of interdepartmental coordination, proactive governance, and transparency in executing development projects, stating, “The Government is committed to inclusive and holistic development that reaches every section of society, especially those in far-flung and rural areas.”

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, Health, Rural Development, PWD, and PMGSY, along with field-level officers and representatives from various line departments.
