Jammu: The body of a woman was recovered from the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Saturday, officials said.
According to officials, the deceased, identified as Shareefa Begum, a mother of two from Kwar-Nagsini village, had been missing since September 18. Her body was spotted in the river near Bhaderkote and later retrieved by personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of her death, officials added.
Meanwhile, authorities have ordered the closure of all government and private schools across Jammu division on October 6 and 7 following a weather advisory from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several areas.
