Apple Watch Ultra Saves Mumbai Techie During Scuba Diving Incident
Over the years, the Apple Watch has proven to be more than just a smartwatch—it has saved countless lives. The latest example involves a Mumbai-based tech professional, Kshitij Zodape, whose Apple Watch Ultra helped him avert a potentially fatal scuba diving accident.
Zodape, a 26-year-old experienced diver, encountered a problem with his diving equipment while exploring the Bay of Bengal. One of his devices became loose, causing him to ascend rapidly toward the surface—a pace that could have been deadly.
Fortunately, the Apple Watch Ultra on his wrist detected the sudden change in depth and alerted him to the possible danger to his lungs. When he was unable to control his ascent, the watch also notified a nearby diving instructor, who rushed to assist and prevented a serious accident in the middle of the sea.
Amazed by the watch’s capabilities, Zodape sent a heartfelt letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook, thanking him for a product that had literally saved his life. Tim Cook personally responded, saying, “I’m so glad your instructor heard the alarm and quickly assisted you. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. Be well.”
While the Apple Watch Ultra is Apple’s most expensive wearable, stories like these highlight how its advanced safety features can prove invaluable in critical situations, making the investment worthwhile for those who push the limits.
