SRINAGAR: Mohd Firdoos, an NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteer from the Faculty of Horticulture at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K), has been honoured with the ‘My Bharat National Service Scheme Award’ for 2022–23.

The prestigious award was presented to him by President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, during the Bharat National Service Scheme Awards 2022–23 ceremony today.

This national recognition celebrates Firdoos’s exceptional dedication to community service, social welfare, and grassroots development. His contributions span health and environmental initiatives, as well as educational empowerment—providing free coaching and distributing stationery to children in rural areas, thereby improving access to education in remote communities.

The award brings pride to SKUAST-K and underscores the university’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible leaders. Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, the university continues to foster a culture of youth engagement and community service.

Mohd Firdoos’s journey stands as an inspiring example of how motivated and well-supported youth can make meaningful contributions to society.
