New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has vacated 79,774 square feet of office space across its establishments and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) under a special campaign to promote sustainable and eco-friendly workplaces.

Conducted between November 2024 and August 2025, the campaign also aimed to clear long-pending files and enhance administrative efficiency.

During the period, the ministry organised 2,405 Swachhata drives at various locations, including field and outstation offices. It also disposed of 493 references from Members of Parliament (MPs), two Cabinet proposals, 104 communications from State Governments, and 30 references from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

In addition, the MHA resolved 40,880 public grievances and 1,864 appeals received during the campaign.

For effective monitoring and coordination, the ministry used a dedicated intra-ministry digital portal that allowed all divisions, Union Territories, and Delhi Police to upload and track progress in real time. This digital integration streamlined reporting and improved transparency across departments.

The initiative is part of Special Campaign 5.0, launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) to foster cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally conscious government offices. The campaign is being closely monitored at senior levels of the ministry to ensure measurable outcomes.

The MHA has instructed all CAPFs and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) to actively contribute and “go the extra mile” to achieve the campaign’s objectives, with a focus on sustainability, digitisation, and efficient record management.

Through these efforts, the MHA continues to reinforce its commitment to cleaner, greener, and more efficient governance — in line with the broader vision of Swachh Bharat and administrative excellence.

The ministry and its organisations are conducting this drive on a monthly basis to maintain cleanliness, optimise office space, and strengthen record management systems.
