Team Collects Cough Syrup Samples for Testing

RAMBAN: The Drugs Control Department, Ramban, today carried out inspections of medical shops in Banihal town to ensure compliance with directives issued by the Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, J&K, and the Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration, J&K.

The inspections focused on raising awareness among chemists regarding the prohibition on dispensing pediatric cough and cold syrups to children aged 2–5 years. During the visits, samples of cough syrups were collected for testing to protect children from potential syrup toxicity.

The drive also aimed to implement the revised GST slabs, with chemists instructed to pass on the benefits to consumers. Comprehensive checks were conducted across various medical establishments, reinforcing the directive to avoid dispensing cough or cold syrups for the 2–5 age group.

The Drugs Control Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality medicines, maintaining strict vigilance to safeguard public health.
