SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to curb unlawful activities and maintain peace and security in the region, Handwara Police on October 7, 2025, conducted targeted searches at the residences of individuals linked with Hurriyat and Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) within its jurisdiction.
According to a police statement, the raids were carried out at the residence of Ghulam Hassan Khan, son of Habibullah Khan, a resident of Maidan Chogol and associated with the proscribed Hurriyat organization, and at the residence of Abdul Ahad Lone, son of Abdul Aziz Lone, a resident of Wahipora, linked with the banned JeI group.
The searches were part of ongoing investigations aimed at determining the involvement of these individuals in activities potentially threatening public peace and order. The police said the operation reflects Handwara Police’s proactive stance in dismantling elements of the terror ecosystem and preventing any disruption to law and order in the area.
Handwara Police reaffirmed its commitment to preserving peace and security, asserting that decisive action will continue against anyone or any organization attempting to disturb the law and order situation in the district.
