Srinagar, Oct 8: Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a major milestone in digital healthcare, generating over 1.05 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), officials said.

The feat marks a significant step toward transforming healthcare delivery across the Union Territory through integrated, technology-driven services. According to officials, J&K has created 1,05,04,499 ABHA IDs, reflecting rapid adoption of digital health systems.

“Jammu and Kashmir is not only advancing in health services and digital payments but also emerging as a frontrunner in digital healthcare,” said an official associated with ABDM.

Launched nationally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2021 and formally rolled out in the UT in July 2022, the mission has gained strong momentum. It aims to build a unified digital ecosystem connecting healthcare stakeholders across India, ensuring seamless and paperless service delivery.

In September 2025 alone, J&K generated 7.5 lakh new ABHA cards, showcasing rapid grassroots adoption.

Under the leadership of Secretary Health and Medical Education, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, and ABDM Mission Director, Anant Dwivedi, the UT has surpassed several national benchmarks — achieving 100% registration of public health professionals, hospitals, and private healthcare facilities.

J&K also ranks among the top four states/UTs under the ‘Scan & Share’ service, recording 82.87 lakh transactions for OPD token generation. The feature enables patients to book OPD slots from home by scanning a QR code via the ABHA app or abdmjk.in, reducing waiting times at hospitals.

Additionally, the UT has linked over 90.44 lakh Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) to citizens’ ABHA IDs, allowing access to complete health histories through the Personal Health Record (PHR) app.

Recognizing these achievements, J&K recently received the Arogya Manthan Award in New Delhi for its leadership in digital healthcare transformation.

Officials said the ABDM ensures paperless hospital workflows, faster claim settlements, transparent pricing, and improved follow-up and remote consultations — bridging gaps between doctors, hospitals, and laboratories.

“The commitment and participation of healthcare workers, allied staff, and professionals have been key to ABDM’s success in J&K,” officials added. “The initiative is revolutionizing patient access, strengthening healthcare infrastructure, and setting new benchmarks for digital health services across the country.”
