Sakeena Itoo Reviews Recruitment Progress, Stresses Timely Filling of Posts in Key Sectors

SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing recruitment process in the Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education departments, urging speedy completion of appointments to enhance service delivery at the grassroots level.

Chairing a review meeting with senior officials of the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB), the Minister highlighted the need to strengthen crucial public service sectors, especially health, which plays a pivotal role in community welfare. Expressing concern over delays in filling vacant positions, she directed officials to remove procedural hurdles and ensure timely recruitment.

“The health sector is directly linked to the well-being of our citizens. Filling medical, paramedical, and support staff posts on time is vital to improve patient care and ease the burden on existing staff,” she said.

Taking stock of vacancies in the Education Department, the Minister emphasized that schools, particularly in rural and remote areas, must not suffer due to staff shortages. She called for a transparent and merit-based recruitment process to ensure equal opportunities for deserving candidates.

Sakeena Itoo also urged better coordination between recruiting agencies and departments to prevent unnecessary delays, reiterating her government’s commitment to strengthening the health and education sectors — the pillars of a progressive and inclusive society.

“Our youth are our strength. Timely and transparent recruitment not only strengthens institutions but also reinforces public trust in governance,” she added.

While reviewing the Social Welfare Department, the Minister stressed regular monitoring and inter-departmental coordination to avoid procedural lapses. She directed officials to submit detailed reports on vacancies, selection progress, and appointment timelines to ensure continuous oversight and accountability.
