Pulwama Enforcement Team Intensifies Drives to Ensure GST Reform Benefits Reach Consumers
PULWAMA: The District-Level Enforcement Team in Pulwama today continued its series of intensive enforcement and awareness drives across the district to ensure effective implementation of Next Generation GST Reforms 2.0 and the transfer of its benefits to consumers.
During the drive, the team carried out detailed inspections at various pharmacies, directing them to strictly comply with the revised and reduced prices of medicines and other items as per the new tax structure. Officers also examined billing records to verify adherence to the updated rates.
The squad further inspected commercial establishments, including retail outlets and supermarkets, to confirm the application of reduced GST rates. Managers were instructed to ensure that unsold old stock is billed and sold at the revised prices reflecting the latest tax reductions.
Inspections were also conducted at several industrial units registered with the Department of Industries & Commerce. The enforcement team reviewed billing systems to ensure fair pricing practices and safeguard consumer interests.
A key directive issued during the inspections mandates all commercial establishments to prominently display lists of products with reduced GST rates. This step aims to enhance public awareness about price benefits, promoting transparency and empowering consumers.
In addition, the State Taxes Department, Pulwama, has established a GST Suvidha Kendra to provide comprehensive assistance to taxpayers and help address challenges arising during the transition to the revised GST framework. The centre also functions as a public facilitation point where citizens can register complaints or grievances related to GST compliance and pricing.
