Mega Exhibition-cum-Kisan Mela Organised at District Agriculture Complex Rajouri

RAJOURI: The Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers’ Welfare today organised a Mega Exhibition-cum-Kisan Mela at the District Agriculture Complex, Kheora, under the aegis of the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers and stakeholders across the district.

District Development Council Chairperson, Advocate Choudhary Naseem Liaqat, presided over the programme. In his address, he highlighted the objectives of the event and urged the farming community to make full use of various government schemes aimed at improving agricultural productivity and farmers’ socio-economic well-being. He emphasized the immense agricultural potential of Rajouri, noting that its diverse agro-climatic conditions are ideal for crop diversification.

“The region’s varied topography and climate support the cultivation of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits, and vegetables, as well as allied activities such as beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, and floriculture — offering farmers vast opportunities to enhance income and achieve sustainable livelihoods,” he remarked.

Various stakeholder departments, including Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Industries, set up informative stalls showcasing their schemes and services. The Chief Guest inspected the stalls and lauded the efforts made to educate and motivate farmers.

Resource persons also interacted with participants, sharing detailed insights into district-level initiatives promoting sustainable and integrated farming practices. A vibrant cultural programme added colour to the event, effectively spreading awareness about welfare and agricultural schemes in an engaging manner.

Dr. Arvind Ishar, Scientist from KVK, delivered an informative session on the Integrated Farming System, highlighting its benefits for income diversification and long-term sustainability.

On the occasion, farmers were provided with Mustard Seed Kits and Soil Health Cards to promote scientific soil management and enhance productivity. The event served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering farmers through innovation, awareness, and convergence of agricultural services.

Chief Agriculture Officer Madan Gopal Singh; AD Fisheries Bodh Raj; officers from allied departments; and a large number of farmers from across the district were present at the event.
