Mumbai: United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios, where he enjoyed the iconic romantic song “Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jana Sanam” from Aditya Chopra’s legendary film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ).

The timeless track was played in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary.

Released in 1995, DDLJ remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated love stories, featuring the unforgettable chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Composed by Jatin-Lalit and sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kumar Sanu, “Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jana Sanam” continues to be cherished as one of Bollywood’s greatest romantic songs.

YRF shared a video on Instagram showing Prime Minister Starmer enjoying the track, writing,

“Incredibly honoured to have hosted UK Prime Minister @keirstarmer at Yash Raj Films in Mumbai yesterday! The UK & YRF share a long-standing bond, and we were thrilled to play the iconic Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as the film celebrates its 30th anniversary. Our ties with the UK will deepen further with a three-movie production pact starting 2026. YRF is also producing Come Fall In Love: The DDLJ Musical, an English adaptation celebrating this cross-cultural, East-meets-West love story.”

DDLJ holds a special connection with the United Kingdom, having been extensively filmed across London and other scenic UK locations.

YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, who hosted the Prime Minister, highlighted this bond:

“The UK holds a very special place in our hearts. Some of our most iconic films, including DDLJ, were shot in this beautiful and hospitable country. It’s truly special to rekindle YRF and the UK’s creative ties on the 30th anniversary of a film that symbolizes the India–UK relationship.”

Expressing his enthusiasm, Starmer said,

“Bollywood is back in Britain — bringing jobs, investment, and opportunity, while showcasing the UK as a world-class destination for global filmmaking. This is exactly the kind of partnership our trade deal with India is designed to unlock.”

As part of this renewed partnership, YRF announced a three-film production pact with the UK, set to begin in 2026. The studio is also developing the stage musical Come Fall In Love: The DDLJ Musical, an English-language adaptation celebrating love that transcends borders.

During his two-day visit to India, Prime Minister Starmer also met Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji at Yash Raj Films Studios on Wednesday.
