New Delhi: Captain Shubman Gill notched up his ninth half-century as India moved to a commanding 427 for 4 at lunch on the second day of the second Test on Saturday.
Resuming from their overnight total of 318 for 2, India added 109 runs in the morning session but lost Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (43) along the way.
Jaiswal was run out early in the day following a mix-up with Gill, while Reddy became left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican’s third scalp.
At the interval, Gill remained unbeaten on 75, inching towards his tenth Test hundred, with Dhruv Jurel batting on 7 not out at the other end.
