Srinagar: The top leadership of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress will convene in Srinagar on Sunday to formulate the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections to four Rajya Sabha seats and the bypolls to two assembly constituencies.
Party sources said the meeting, to be chaired by Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hameed Karra at the party headquarters, will be attended by senior leaders from both Jammu and Kashmir regions.
They said discussions will focus on finalising the party’s approach for the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for October 24. Congress has already sought the support of the ruling National Conference (NC) for one of the four seats.
On Friday, the NC announced candidates for three of the four Rajya Sabha seats, keeping one vacant while talks with Congress continued.
The meeting will also review the party’s position on the upcoming bypolls in Budgam and Nagrota assembly constituencies, slated for November.
