Yasha Mudgal reviews progress of sports infrastructure projects in J&K

JAMMU: Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Yasha Mudgal, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of Capex, SASCI, Khelo India, PMDP, and CSS projects being executed by the J&K Sports Council (JKSC).

The meeting was attended by the Special Secretary YSS, Director Finance YSS, Secretary JKSC, and other senior officers of the department.

During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the ongoing projects under Capex, SASCI, Khelo India, and PMDP schemes aimed at augmenting sports infrastructure and facilities across the Union Territory.

Yasha Mudgal stressed the timely completion of eight SASCI projects along with Capex, Khelo India, and PMDP works to ensure the availability of world-class sports infrastructure and to promote greater youth participation in sports activities.

She emphasized the need to consolidate and strengthen existing sports assets, including machinery, equipment, water facilities, and other essential amenities, to ensure sustainable infrastructure development.

The Commissioner Secretary also directed for the upgradation and regular maintenance of existing stadiums, particularly focusing on installation of floodlights, high-mast lighting systems, and improved event management facilities.

She instructed the Secretary JKSC to obtain necessary approvals for the Manasbal Water Sports Facility, while the Executive Engineer was asked to submit Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for pending works within a week and secure technical sanctions within ten days.

The meeting also set a target of achieving 100% expenditure and completion of all 2025–26 budgeted projects by March 31, 2026.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to developing modern sports infrastructure and nurturing young talent, Yasha Mudgal urged all concerned officers to ensure efficient execution of projects for the holistic development of sports across Jammu and Kashmir.
