Ayodhya: Around 28 lakh diyas will illuminate 56 ghats along the Saryu River in Ayodhya as part of the ninth edition of Deepotsav, according to an official statement.

For the first time, the Laxman Kila Ghat will participate in the grand celebration and will be adorned with over 1.25 lakh lamps. Meanwhile, Ram Ki Paidi and Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghats will each glow with around 1.5 lakh diyas, while Bhajan Sandhya Ghat will shine with a similar number. The highlight of the festivities, Ram Ki Paidi, will feature an impressive 15–16 lakh diyas alone.

In previous years, Ayodhya’s Deepotsav has earned recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records, and organisers aim to set a new record this year by lighting 28 lakh lamps. Teams from the government, administration, and local volunteer groups are working tirelessly to make the event a success.

Preparations are in full swing, covering decorations, security, cultural performances, and visitor hospitality.

Under the supervision of Prof. Sant Sharan Mishra, Nodal Officer for Deepotsav at Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, 22 committees have been constituted to manage different aspects of the festival.

These committees will oversee coordination, discipline, security, lamp counting, traffic control, cleanliness, media and photography, first aid, decoration, rangoli, volunteer identification, and overall monitoring and control, the statement added.
