JAIPUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the introduction of the three new criminal laws has transformed India’s justice system from being punishment-oriented to justice-driven.
Speaking after inaugurating an exhibition at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC), Shah said the new laws ensure easy and timely access to justice for all. He was also given a demonstration of the investigation and prosecution process under the new legal framework.
“The three new laws will make justice delivery faster, more transparent, and focused on fairness rather than punishment,” Shah told the gathering.
The exhibition at JECC highlights the transition of India’s criminal justice system from a colonial, punitive model to one centred on justice, transparency, and citizens’ rights.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam — which replaced the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act — came into effect on July 1, 2024.
Shah also appealed to citizens to promote the use of indigenous products, saying this would strengthen India’s domestic market, boost consumption, and position the nation as a global manufacturing hub.
