LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates J&K Police’s Diwali Mela, urges people to go ‘Vocal for Local’ this festive season
JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the J&K Police’s Diwali Mela 2025 at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, and paid rich tributes to the bravehearts of J&K Police who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor called upon the people to support local entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and artisans by buying Swadeshi products this Diwali.
“Let us boost our local economy, empower local entrepreneurs, create more employment opportunities, and strengthen the overall economic position of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.






Emphasizing the importance of self-reliance, the LG said that this Diwali, ‘Vocal for Local’ should be the collective mission to promote national pride and economic independence.
“I appeal to all families to buy handicrafts, handloom, and other traditional products as Diwali gifts. Such gestures not only reflect patriotism but also provide vital support to small businesses,” the LG added.
The Diwali Mela, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with the Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), features a host of attractions for visitors, including food and shopping stalls, public awareness programmes, career counselling and educational booths, a live magic show, police band performances, a laser show, and fireworks display.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat; ADGP Headquarters Shri M.K. Sinha; ADGP Armed Shri Anand Jain; IGP Jammu Shri Bhim Sen Tuti; Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shri Ramesh Kumar; serving and retired police and civil officers; members of PWWA; and a large number of citizens.
