Nano Banana Image Editor Expands to More Google Apps
The Gemini Nano Banana AI image editor has been making waves recently, giving ChatGPT a real challenge in the creative AI space. After its massive success, Google is now rolling out this popular tool to more of its products — including AI Mode in Google Search and Google Lens. Starting this week, the feature will be available to users in India and the US.
Over the past few weeks, the Nano Banana tool has become a viral hit, with millions experimenting with new portrait styles — from recreating their younger selves to imaginative scenes like women in sarees or space-themed photos. AI-generated images have captured global attention, letting users restore old photos or transform them into artistic, surreal visuals.
Interestingly, Nano Banana’s reach has already gone beyond Google’s ecosystem. Thanks to Perplexity, users can now access the Nano Banana AI model via WhatsApp, using a simple bot to generate custom images.
How to Use Nano Banana in Google Search (AI Mode)
Using Nano Banana’s image editing features in Google Search is simple and intuitive:
Open Google Search on your Android device or the Google app on iPhone.
Go to the Ask Anything tab.
Tap the “+” icon.
Select the banana icon to activate the Nano Banana image tool.
Enter a prompt describing what you’d like the AI to create.
Once generated, your image will include a Gemini AI watermark to distinguish it from real photos.
How to Use Nano Banana in Google Lens
You can also use Nano Banana directly within Google Lens:
Open Google Lens in the Search app (the one with the Google logo).
Tap the camera icon in the search bar.
Switch to camera mode for enhanced features.
Tap the banana icon to launch the Nano Banana AI tool.
Type your own prompt or pick one from the suggested list.
Tap the banana icon again to generate your AI image.
When using Nano Banana through the Perplexity WhatsApp bot, make sure your prompt clearly specifies that you want to use Gemini’s AI image tool. Otherwise, Perplexity’s own default image model will take over.
With these updates, Google’s Nano Banana AI editor is rapidly expanding its footprint, making creative AI tools easier — and more fun — for everyone to use.
