Ahmedabad: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday said that morality holds no meaning without spirituality, and that violence in society would end if people embraced the belief that “I am in everyone, and everyone is in me.”

On the second day of his Gujarat visit, Bhagwat met spiritual leader Acharya Mahashramanji at the Preksha Vishva Bharati Dhyan Kendra in Koba, near Gandhinagar. “I visit this place every year to recharge my batteries,” he remarked.

“The foundation of both personal and national character is morality, and the foundation of morality is spirituality. Without spirituality, morality has no substance. That’s why I visit such places to gain the energy needed for my work,” Bhagwat said, as per a statement issued by the Sangh.

Referring to Acharya Mahashramanji’s message of non-violence, Bhagwat said, “If people truly follow his mantra — I am in everyone, and everyone is in me — violence in society will cease.”

Speaking about the RSS centenary year, Bhagwat said there would be no grand celebrations. “Completing 100 years of serving the nation is our duty; it doesn’t call for celebration,” he stated.

Instead, he said, RSS workers would organise activities promoting social harmony. “We have planned five types of programs focused on family values, social unity, environmental protection, civic responsibility, and Swadeshi (self-reliance),” Bhagwat added.

He said RSS volunteers have already begun implementing these ideas and will reach out to people across the country to spread these messages and “strengthen unity in society.”
