Speaker Reviews Arrangements for Upcoming Assembly Session at Srinagar

SRINAGAR,: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather, today chaired a high-level meeting at the Assembly Secretariat to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly Session scheduled to commence on October 23, 2025.

During the meeting, the Speaker directed officers from various departments to ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed well in advance for the smooth and efficient conduct of the session.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure the smooth functioning of the Assembly. All departments must work in coordination and be fully prepared ahead of the session,” the Speaker emphasized.

He reviewed department-wise arrangements and issued specific instructions:

General Administration Department (GAD): Ensure timely submission of replies to Assembly Questions and issue necessary directions to all departments in this regard.

Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs Department: Forward Government Bills to the Assembly Secretariat well before the session and ensure prompt communication with concerned departments.

Information Department: Provide full coverage of the proceedings and arrange technical support, including public address systems, microphones, and other media-related equipment.

Information Technology Department: Ensure high-speed Wi-Fi and Internet connectivity throughout the Assembly premises, with routers installed wherever necessary.

Security Agencies: Deploy adequately trained staff familiar with parliamentary protocols and ensure foolproof security for legislators and visitors within the Assembly complex.

Estates Department: Expedite renovation and repair works in the Assembly Hall, VIP Chambers, and ensure installation and checking of intercom and telephone facilities.

Traffic Management: Coordinate with concerned authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow around the Assembly Complex, Civil Secretariat, and MLA Hostel to avoid inconvenience to the public.

Jal Shakti Department: Ensure continuous and adequate water supply to the Legislature Complex and MLA Hostel.

Power Development Department: Address any transmission issues to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the session, both at the Assembly and MLA Hostel.

Srinagar Municipal Corporation: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in and around the Assembly premises and MLA Hostel.

The Speaker also directed the concerned departments to make comprehensive arrangements for medical support, fire safety, cafeteria services, hospitality, and emergency assistance for members, staff, and visitors.

He further stressed the need to maintain protocol discipline and ensure a safe, secure, and conducive environment throughout the Assembly proceedings.
