Kampala,: Reaffirming India’s consistent support for a negotiated two-state solution, Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh reiterated New Delhi’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in West Asia during the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Ministerial Committee on Palestine meeting held in Kampala, Uganda.
Singh represented India at the opening ceremony of the 19th Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of NAM, hosted by Uganda under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence” on Wednesday (local time).
In a post on X, Singh wrote, “Delivered the national statement at the NAM Ministerial Committee on Palestine meeting held in Kampala today. The Committee was established under India’s Chairmanship of NAM in 1983. Recalled India’s humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine and reaffirmed our historical position on a negotiated two-State solution in West Asia. India stands ready to contribute to achieving a peaceful and stable West Asia.”
On the sidelines of the meeting, Singh also met Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop to discuss strengthening multifaceted bilateral relations, and Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Mohamed Omar to explore further avenues of cooperation.
Uganda currently holds the NAM chairmanship for the 2024–2026 term.
Ahead of Singh’s visit, the Ministry of External Affairs noted that India, a founding member of NAM, “remains committed to the movement’s core principles and values,” and emphasized that the ongoing ministerial meeting focuses on “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.”
