Udhampur: Authorities on Wednesday conducted a controlled blast to clear large boulders obstructing sections of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). The operation was carried out at three locations to aid road widening and improve traffic flow.

Divisional Transportation Inspector Vinay Gupta said the National Highway Company undertook the blasts to remove three massive boulders from the highway, which will help increase vehicle speed and ease congestion.

“The blasts were executed between Jakhani and the Sharika temple stretch of NH-44. Three big boulders had to be removed to make the road smoother. This will enhance traffic movement, and the highway could soon operate on a double lane,” Gupta stated.

He also appealed to commuters to adhere to traffic advisories to prevent jams, emphasizing that “following traffic rules will ensure smooth travel without congestion.”
