Jammu: Wildlife authorities on Thursday captured a leopard in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, while efforts are underway to locate and capture a second one, officials said.
The two leopards had been creating panic in residential areas of Doda town for several days, prompting the wildlife department to launch a special operation to ensure public safety.
“We intensified the operation keeping public safety as our top priority. The team successfully captured one of the leopards today, and efforts are ongoing to catch the other,” wildlife official Manohar Lal told reporters.
He added that the captured leopard has been safely relocated to Kishtwar.
Meanwhile, authorities have urged residents to stay alert and avoid venturing into isolated areas due to the presence of wild animals.
