Minister Javed Rana applauds CM Omar Abdullah’s revival of Darbar Move
SRINAGAR: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, has lauded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for taking what he termed a “bold and visionary step” in reviving the historic Darbar Move, a centuries-old tradition deeply rooted in Jammu and Kashmir’s socio-administrative framework.
Rana highlighted that the Darbar Move represents far more than an administrative routine — it embodies cultural unity, emotional bonding, and regional inclusivity. By reinstating this tradition, he said, the Chief Minister has reaffirmed a practice that has long served to connect the diverse regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Darbar Move is not merely an administrative exercise; it is a vital engine for Jammu’s economy and a cherished symbol of inter-regional harmony,” the Minister stated.
He emphasized the economic significance of the Move, noting that the seasonal relocation of government offices to Jammu injects vitality into the local economy and sustains thousands of livelihoods.
Calling it a “time-tested tradition” that fosters trust, balance, and inclusivity, Rana commended the Chief Minister’s commitment to maintaining regional equilibrium. He reiterated that the presence of the administration in both Jammu and Srinagar is essential for strengthening public confidence, regional equity, and emotional integration across the Union Territory.
