WGAJK meets Secretary J&K Sports Council to discuss activity calendar for upcoming winter sports season

SRINAGAR: Members of the Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir (WGAJK) today held a meeting with Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, to deliberate on various issues related to the upcoming winter sports season in the Union Territory.

During the meeting, Secretary JKSC highlighted the need to gear up for the 6th edition of Khelo India Winter Games 2026, along with other national and domestic-level winter sports activities. She emphasized the importance of expanding the scope of winter sports beyond Gulmarg by exploring potential venues in Sonamarg, Shopian, Bhaderwah, and Kishtwar, noting that such initiatives would not only strengthen J&K’s winter sports ecosystem but also boost winter tourism across the region.

The members of WGAJK assured the Secretary of their full support and coordination in organizing events across the proposed locations and expressed readiness to explore all feasible options for hosting winter sports competitions.

The meeting was attended by DSOC JKSC Javid Ur Rehman, Executive Officer JKSC Majid Yousuf, President WGAJK Rauf Tramboo, and other concerned officials.
