Divisional Commissioner Kashmir reviews developmental scenario, winter preparedness in Anantnag

ANANTNAG: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today visited Anantnag and chaired a comprehensive meeting at Dak Bungalow Khanabal to review the district’s overall developmental progress, winter preparedness, and implementation of various government schemes and welfare initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, SF Hamid, Director Horticulture (P&MD) Kashmir, ADCs, SP, GM DIC, ACR, ACD, SDMs, sectoral and district officers, along with representatives from NHIDCL, BRO, Oil & Gas companies, and other concerned departments.

At the outset, the DC presented a detailed overview of the district’s developmental profile and the progress of key initiatives including Mission Yuva, NMBA, TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, HADP, PMSGMBY, and JK Samadhan. He also highlighted the implementation status of social security and financial inclusion schemes, besides giving updates on ongoing projects in health, education, RDD, R&B, PHE, and power sectors.

Addressing the officers, the Div Com underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination and advance planning for effective winter preparedness. He said that a seamless flow of information is crucial to ensure timely response to any eventuality during the winter months.

Garg directed that Winter Control Rooms be made fully functional with updated duty rosters and adequate staffing from all relevant departments for smooth operations. He also emphasized the need for real-time coordination between civil departments, police, security forces, and SDRF units, particularly during emergencies.

Reviewing essential supplies, the Div Com instructed officers to ensure adequate stocking of transformers, ration, fuel, and LPG, so that people do not face any inconvenience during the season.

He further directed concerned departments to ensure saturation of Central and UT-sponsored welfare schemes, noting that initiatives like PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Mission Yuva, and HADP are crucial for public welfare and must be implemented in a target-oriented manner.

Stressing that youth empowerment remains a top priority, Garg called for focused execution of self-employment schemes and urged banks to expedite credit lending and loan disbursal to generate sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth.
