Tribal delegations from Bandipora, Kupwara meet Tribal Affairs Minister in Srinagar
SRINAGAR: Several tribal delegations from Bandipora and Kupwara districts today called on the Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, in Srinagar to discuss key issues related to the welfare and development of tribal communities.
During the meeting, the delegations raised a range of concerns including the need for improved infrastructure, better healthcare and education facilities, enhanced livelihood opportunities, and effective implementation of welfare initiatives aimed at uplifting tribal populations.
The Minister assured the delegations that the government is fully committed to addressing these issues in a holistic and time-bound manner. He said that the Tribal Affairs Department is actively working on infrastructure upgradation and expansion of welfare schemes to promote sustainable development and socio-economic empowerment among tribal communities.
Rana emphasized that the government remains steadfast in safeguarding the rights and interests of tribal populations through targeted programmes and flagship schemes designed to bridge developmental gaps and improve living standards.
“These initiatives are focused on ensuring socio-economic upliftment and inclusive growth of tribal communities across Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Reaffirming the commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led government to inclusive development, the Minister stated that tribal welfare continues to be a top priority in all policy and developmental interventions.
He further highlighted that all initiatives will be implemented with transparency and efficiency, ensuring active participation of tribal communities in planning and decision-making processes. “Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of every welfare scheme reach the last mile and positively impact every tribal household,” the Minister added.
