Deputy CM lays foundation stones for projects worth ₹9 crore in Anantnag, Kulgam districts
Visits KP Colony Vessu; reviews progress of Transit Accommodation blocks
ANANTNAG, OCTOBER: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today said that the Omar Abdullah-led government, which has completed one year in office, remains committed to fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Chief Minister made these remarks during an extensive tour of Anantnag and Kulgam districts, where he laid foundation stones for several developmental projects amounting to around ₹9 crore.
In Anantnag, Choudhary laid the foundation stone for the ₹3.16 crore Labour Sarai Project at Wanpoh. Speaking on the occasion, he said the facility would boost local economic activity, create employment opportunities, and serve as a key welfare centre for workers. He added that the long-pending demand of the local populace has finally been fulfilled, with the project expected to be completed by June next year. He directed the PWD to ensure its timely completion.




Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparent and result-oriented governance, the Deputy CM said, “We do not make false promises. We follow the legacy of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, grounded in truth and sincerity.” He urged people to have faith in the government’s efforts, assuring that all initiatives are aimed at public welfare.
On the occasion, the Deputy CM also released over ₹30 lakh in financial assistance to 1,025 registered workers of the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The amount was credited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts under various scholarship and education assistance schemes.
Later, in Kulgam district, Choudhary laid the foundation stone for the ₹5.69 crore Khrewan–Palpora Check Road project in Devsar constituency. He said the road will connect nearly 20 villages, significantly improving road connectivity and easing transport for local residents.
Addressing gatherings at various locations, the Deputy CM reiterated that the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to equitable development across Jammu and Kashmir and will honour all its promises made to the people.
During his visit to the Kashmiri Pandit Colony at Vessu, the Deputy CM performed Bhumi Pujan at the Ganesh Mandir and conducted an on-spot review of the ongoing works on Transit Accommodation Blocks. He instructed officials to expedite the pace of construction to ensure early completion and allotment to deserving families.
Addressing the Kashmiri Pandit community, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their dignified rehabilitation and assured that all necessary facilities will be provided to them. He emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir has always stood for peace, harmony, and brotherhood, where people of all faiths—Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians—have lived together in unity.
Legislators Altaf Ahmad Wani, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Reyaz Ahmad Khan, and Peerzada Feroze Ahmad accompanied the Deputy CM during the tour. Senior officers, including the Chief Engineer R&B, Labour Commissioner, ADDC Kulgam, SEs, and XENs from various departments, were also present.
