CEO Reviews Preparations for Bye-Election to 77-Nagrota Assembly Constituency
JAMMU: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjeev Verma, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the preparedness for the upcoming bye-election to the 77-Nagrota Assembly Constituency (AC), scheduled for November 11, 2025.
During the meeting, District Election Officer (DEO) Dr. Rakesh Minhas presented a detailed report on the election arrangements in place. He informed that 150 polling stations have been established across the constituency, which has 97,893 registered voters. Each polling station is equipped with robust infrastructure and assured minimum facilities, including ramps, lighting, drinking water, and sanitation.


The meeting featured extensive discussions on EVM and VVPAT management, transport logistics, SVEEP awareness campaigns, strong room security, and facilities for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and senior citizens.
Addressing the officers, CEO Sanjeev Verma emphasized that the bye-election must be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, ensuring voter confidence through strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct and prompt grievance redressal. He described the bye-election as a “festival of democracy”, calling for inclusive participation from all sections of society.
He directed officers to complete all training and logistical exercises within stipulated timelines and lauded the district administration’s proactive approach. The CEO also stressed the importance of citizen outreach through SVEEP rallies and awareness drives.
Expressing satisfaction over the coordinated efforts led by the DEO and Returning Officer, the CEO urged all departments to work in close synergy while maintaining neutrality and efficiency to uphold the sanctity of the democratic process.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nirupa Rai, Sandish Kumar Gupta, Joint CEO Anil Salgotra, other nodal officers, and senior district officials. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Returning Officer 77-Nagrota, and SP (Headquarters) Irshad Rather also briefed the CEO on the security preparedness for the bye-election.
