Training for Polling Staff for 27-Budgam Bye-Elections Continues on Second Day

BUDGAM: The second day of training for polling personnel deputed for the Bye-Elections to the 27-Budgam Assembly Constituency continued smoothly today across three designated venues — Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall, Government Degree College, and Community Hall Budgam.

Organized under the supervision of the District Administration, the training aims to ensure that all polling officials are thoroughly acquainted with the latest guidelines and procedures of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Master Trainers conducted comprehensive demonstrations on the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems, supplemented by practical exercises for all categories of polling staff. Participants were also sensitized to the importance of transparency, impartiality, and strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) throughout the election process.

The sessions covered key aspects such as mock poll procedures, sealing protocols, polling station setup, and accessibility measures to facilitate inclusive voting, particularly for senior citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

District and Nodal Officers closely monitored the sessions at all venues to ensure active participation and effective learning. The District Election Officer (DEO) emphasized that all officials assigned election duties must attend every phase of the training to guarantee flawless arrangements on polling day.

The next phase of training is scheduled in the coming days, focusing on practical simulations and case-based exercises for Presiding Officers, Polling Officers, and other staff to further enhance preparedness for the smooth conduct of the bye-elections.
