CM Omar Abdullah Reviews Developmental Progress, Inaugurates New Tehsil Office at Shangus
ANANTNAG: Continuing his extensive district tour, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the overall developmental scenario, progress of ongoing projects, and implementation of government schemes in District Anantnag.
The Chief Minister took a detailed review of the District CAPEX Budget 2025–26, Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), and other flagship government programmes.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Rana, Javid Dar, and Satish Sharma, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chairperson District Development Council Anantnag, MLAs Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed (Anantnag), G.A. Mir (Dooru), Altaf Ahmad Wani (Pahalgam), Abdul Majeed Bhat (Anantnag West), Zaffar Ali Khatana (Kokernag), Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri (Srigufwara–Bijbehara), and Reyaz A. Khan (Shangus–Anantnag East).
Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Fakhruddin, heads of departments, and other district officers were also present.





At the outset, Deputy Commissioner Fakhruddin presented a detailed overview of ongoing projects, departmental performance, and developmental indicators of the district.
During the review, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to accelerate project execution through regular fortnightly monitoring, timely fund utilization, and avoidance of fund lapses. He directed officials to strengthen core sectors such as healthcare, education, tourism, and horticulture to boost livelihoods and local economic activity.
Calling for greater inter-departmental coordination and strict adherence to timelines, the Chief Minister instructed officers to ensure time-bound completion of all projects and efficient delivery of public services.
Highlighting the importance of full financial utilisation, Omar Abdullah noted that expenditure under the CAPEX budget was below target. He directed the Deputy Commissioner to conduct fortnightly reviews to ensure all allocations are utilized by December, particularly under the SACSI scheme, warning against any delays that could affect subsequent instalments.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to equitable development, the Chief Minister assured that all priority and essential works would be taken up on a fast-track basis. He also urged legislators to optimally utilise their Constituency Development Funds (CDF) for impactful local projects such as marriage hall constructions.
Speaking on SACSI implementation, the Chief Minister remarked, “We carry a big responsibility under SACSI. Every penny received must be spent effectively before December to secure the next instalment. I expect weekly progress reviews, immediate action on bottlenecks, and regular updates to my office. No SACSI project should suffer due to delay.”
He further directed that ongoing works be prioritised for early completion and assured that all genuine public demands raised in the meeting would be duly addressed. Commending the district administration’s efforts, he expressed confidence that the coming year would witness even more accelerated development.
Earlier, public representatives highlighted constituency-specific developmental concerns and sought redressal.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah e-inaugurated the newly constructed Tehsil Office Building at Shangus and dedicated it to the public.
