Odense: India’s top men’s doubles duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, stormed into the semi-finals of the Denmark Open 2025 after a hard-fought 21-15, 18-21, 21-16 victory over Indonesia’s unseeded pair Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Rahmat Hidayat on Friday. The intense quarter-final clash lasted 65 minutes.

Satwik and Chirag took charge in the opening game, pulling away from 17-16 with four consecutive points. However, the Indonesians mounted a comeback in the second game, erasing a 10-4 deficit to level the score at 17-all before forcing a decider.

In the final game, the Indian duo regained control early and maintained their dominance to seal the win and secure a place in the semi-finals.

The world No. 3 pair will next face Japan’s world No. 10 team, Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, on Saturday. Satwik and Chirag hold a 4-1 head-to-head advantage over the Japanese duo.

After finishing runners-up at both the Hong Kong Open and China Masters last month, the Indian pair will be eager to clinch the title at this BWF Super 750 event.

Meanwhile, in men’s singles, Lakshya Sen’s Denmark Open campaign came to an end following a 21-9, 21-14 defeat to France’s world No. 7 Alex Lanier in the quarter-finals. Despite his earlier win over world No. 2 Anders Antonsen, Sen struggled to recover from early deficits, trailing 11-5 and 11-4 at the mid-game intervals.

In the mixed doubles, Mohit Jaglan and Lakshita Jaglan bowed out after a 21-14, 21-11 loss to Indonesia’s Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil.
