Jammu: The Northern Railway’s Jammu Division carried out an extensive ticket-checking drive, during which fines totaling around ₹5 lakh were collected from 673 passengers found travelling without valid tickets, an official said on Saturday.

The operation, led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, was conducted across major stations of the division, including Jammu, Pathankot Cantonment, Pathankot City, Katra, Srinagar, and Budgam, the official said in a statement.

A joint team also conducted thorough inspections at the Jammu railway station, covering platforms, trains, waiting areas, and parking zones, the statement added.

Urging passengers to cooperate with railway staff, Singhal said, “Let us all ensure safe and hassle-free travel during this festive season.”
