Pony operator booked for running unauthorized service on Vaishno Devi track
JAMMU: Police have booked a pony operator for operating without a valid license along the track to the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Sunday.
During routine patrolling near Banganga, a police team intercepted a man offering pony services and asked him to produce a valid license, a police spokesperson said.
The man was identified as Billu Ram, a resident of Panjar-Panchari in Udhampur. However, he failed to produce any authorization or registration documents and admitted he was running the pony service illegally, assuming he would not be questioned, the spokesperson added.
Operating without authorization violates government rules governing registered service providers on the shrine route, the official said.
A case has been registered under relevant legal provisions at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway.
