Srinagar: In a major crackdown on fugitives, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested five absconders from Budgam and Pulwama districts, officials said on Sunday.
Police said Noor Mohammad Gojri, wanted in a rape case registered at Kunzer Police Station in Baramulla, had been on the run since 2008. “Acting on credible intelligence, a police team from Kunzer traced and arrested the accused from Beerwah, Budgam, during a late-night operation,” a spokesperson said. “The accused has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.”
In Pulwama’s Awantipora area, four absconders — Yawar Manzoor Sofi, Muzamil Rasool Wagay, Farooq Ahmad Mir, and Mohammad Shafi Wani — were arrested on non-bailable warrants issued in connection with separate cases registered at Pampore Police Station.
A special team led by the Pampore SHO apprehended the accused from different locations, the spokesperson added.
