Sakeena Itoo Conducts Surprise Inspection of PHCs Sheeri and Boniyar, Calls for People-Centric Healthcare Delivery
BARAMULLA: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Monday carried out a surprise inspection of Primary Health Centres (PHC) Sheeri and PHC Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to review healthcare facilities and assess the on-ground functioning of these institutions.
During the visit, the Minister took stock of the availability of essential medicines, diagnostic services, manpower strength, and the overall quality of patient care. She also interacted with patients and attendants to gather first-hand feedback on healthcare delivery at the centres.
Interacting with doctors and other medical staff, Sakeena Itoo stressed the need to adopt a people-centric approach in all aspects of service delivery.
Expressing concern over certain shortcomings observed during the inspection, she directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to take immediate corrective measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential services. The Minister also emphasized strict compliance with duty rosters, proper record maintenance, and cleanliness within hospital premises.
“The government is committed to strengthening the public health system—particularly at the primary level—so that quality healthcare reaches every citizen, especially those in remote and far-flung areas,” she said.
She reiterated that transparency, accountability, and dedication must remain the guiding principles of healthcare delivery.
MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi, MLA Baramulla Javid Hassan Beigh, CMO Baramulla, and other senior officers from the district administration accompanied the Minister during the visit.
