DC Ramban inspects facilities at Tatapani Hot Water Spring
RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today visited the Tatapani area in Subdivision Gool to assess the available facilities and gather first-hand feedback from visitors about the amenities at the popular tourist spot.
The Hot Water Spring at Tatapani in Sangaldan is a natural geothermal wonder, widely known for its therapeutic and medicinal properties. The spring emits naturally heated water believed to have significant healing effects, offering relief from various ailments. Owing to its curative potential, Tatapani attracts visitors from across Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring regions.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the hot water spring, bathing points, changing facilities, and sanitation infrastructure. He emphasized maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety to enhance the visitor experience. He also interacted with visitors and local service providers to understand their requirements and suggestions for improving infrastructure and accessibility at the site.
The DC directed the PWD and RDD departments to immediately undertake maintenance of roads, sanitation units, and approach paths leading to Tatapani. He instructed officials to avoid using any unsafe or damaged infrastructure until it is properly repaired and made secure for public use.
Further, he directed the Sub-Divisional Administration and Police Department to ensure adequate civic amenities, traffic management, and security arrangements to facilitate smooth movement of visitors, particularly during the ongoing peak season.
Highlighting Tatapani’s tourism potential, the Deputy Commissioner said the destination would be developed as a clean, sustainable, and visitor-friendly wellness site in line with the district’s broader vision of promoting eco-tourism and local economic growth. He also underscored the importance of preserving the natural ecosystem and scenic beauty of the area while encouraging local youth to engage in tourism-related activities to create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The DC assured that the District Administration would continue to monitor and upgrade facilities at Tatapani in coordination with concerned departments, with the aim of making it one of Ramban district’s most attractive wellness and recreational destinations.
