Jammu: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, on Tuesday said that over 100 anti-terror operations are being conducted daily across the Jammu division, even as the presence of foreign terrorists in dense forest areas continues to pose a major challenge. He added that efforts are ongoing to eliminate these infiltrators.
Speaking to the media after leading a wreath-laying ceremony at the Police Martyrs Memorial near Jammu Railway Station on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, the IGP paid homage to the brave personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
The day honours the memory of 10 CRPF personnel who made the supreme sacrifice on October 21, 1959, when they were ambushed by heavily armed Chinese troops at Hot Springs in Ladakh, at an altitude of 4,681 metres.
“For the past two years, foreign terrorists have been a major challenge in Jammu. However, we are continuously strengthening our counter-terrorism and border protection grid. I am confident that soon we will neutralise those hiding in forest areas,” said Tuti.
He informed that around 120 counter-terror operations are carried out daily in the Jammu zone, including both speculative and intelligence-based missions. “This is part of our routine duty,” he added.
Tuti further noted that while combating terrorism remains a key responsibility, the police also face risks in other roles. “Many of our comrades have laid down their lives while performing traffic duties or tackling criminals. Every sacrifice counts, and we salute all our brave personnel,” he said, expressing gratitude to the families of martyrs for their strength and support.
As part of the Police Commemoration Day events, the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday organised a blood donation camp at the police headquarters, where 125 personnel from various units across the Jammu zone voluntarily donated blood.
Commemorative events were also held in all 10 districts of Jammu, witnessing participation from senior officers, retired personnel, families of martyrs, and members of civil society.
